The winged ox has been used as St. Luke's avatar from almost the beginning of Christianity. In the second century, Irenaeus drew upon Ezekiel 1:1-21 and Revelation 4:6-8 to link each gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) to the fantastical creatures described in these biblical passages. You can read more about this here. We are using this long-standing symbol to connect our podcast with our web site www.wingedox.com.
On a deeper level, we hope that you will find this podcast both enriches your spiritual life and leads you to join us at St. Luke's or a community of faith in your area.
